SPORTS – A WAY OF LIFE
DPS Durg commenced its two day Annual Sports Meet- 2022 celebrations, on 20th December 2022, amidst great mirth, verve and camaraderie. The hon’ble Guest of Honour gracing the event was Shri H.S Batra, Member Managing Committee DPS Durg, Special Guest, Ms. Sarit Kaur Batra, Mr. Yashpal Sharma, Principal DPS Durg, and a large gathering of Parents.
The Principal extended a floral and formal welcome to the esteemed Guest of honour and dignitaries and shared briefly, the School’s Sports activities and achievements of students. This was entailed by the hoisting of the School Flag and declaration of the Meet Open, by Shri H.S Batra followed by the lighting of the flame by the School’s Junior Sports Secretaries and releasing of balloons, to mark the expression of joy and merriment.
The Guest of honour was accompanied by the Principal for the inspection of the School and House Appointment Contingents and he subsequently took the salute of the spectacular and well- synchronized March Past by the students of the four House Contingents, rendering the parent spectators, speechless and spell bound.
Thereafter, the Principal administered Oath to the School Appointments. The most intriguing aspect, embellishing the event was the field Display based on the theme “Sports -A Way of Life”, involving mass student participation which splattered on the field, a riot of hues and vibrance. The displays included ‘Soaring High Together’ by classes Pre-Nursery to II, and “Harmonizing with Nature” by classes III – V, “ This entailed Track Events including 6 races by the Pre- Primary Wing, 12 races by the Primary Wing including 50mts,60mts,BackRun,Shuttle Run, Skipping, Mini Cross Country, Mini hurdles, to name a few,Parents race and Teachers’ race. In the subsequent Prize Distribution, the Winners of various events were given medals, trophies and certificates by the Guest of honour.
The Best Athlete Boy of the Pre-Primary Wing was Divyam Dwivedi of Class I C, Shivalik House and the Best Athlete Girl was Rifat Naz Class I C, Shivalik House.
The Best Athlete Boy of the Primary Wing for classes II & III was Neeraj Sahu Class III- B, Nilgiri House and the Best Athlete Girl was Sonakshi Yadav Class III – C, Aravalli House.
The Best Athlete Boy for classes IV & V, was Hardik Godwani Class V–F, Shivalik House and the Best Athlete Girl was Aradhya Singh Class IV – B , Aravalli House.
The zealous parents, gathered in large numbers, constantly applauded the participants of the Field track, displays and appreciated the programme in Superlatives.
In the Closing Ceremony, the Meet was declared closed and the School Flag was handed over to the Principal, after a Slow March, by the Sports Secretaries. The lit flame was put off with the Beating of the Retreat.
The programme was attended by Mr. K S Bisht, (H.M.), Mr. R. C. Dwivedi, (S.M.), Academic coordinators, all the teaching staff and administration staff.
The programme was co-ordinated and compered by Ms. Zohra Husain, Incharge Activities, Middle and Senior Wing and the smart student anchors of the Field Displays were Sarang Sushant Pandit – Head Boy, Yana Anwar Qureshi – Head Girl. The Vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Gagan Inder Singh Virdee, Head of the Physical Education Department. The Meet saw its culmination with the National Anthem.
