REPORT

The DPS Basketball Tournament Girls (Open) – 2023, was organised by DPS Society and conducted for Zone – 4 by DPS Durg from 12th October to 14th October 2023. The school participants were DPS Bilaspur, DPS Megacity, Kolkata, DPS Ruby Park, Kolkata, DPS NTPC Korba, DPS Ranchi, DPS Numaligarh and DPS Durg.

The Opening Ceremony on 12th October 2023, comprised lighting of the Ceremonial lamp, Welcome Dance, Chhattisgarhi Dance, Hoisting of the DPS Society Flag and Declaration of the Meet Open, Introduction of the officials, March Past by the team participants and administering of Oath to the players by the Chief Guest. The Principal, Mr. Yashpal Sharma, extended his cordial welcome to the School Team Participants, the Officials and the Coaches on behalf of the Chairman of the DPS Society. He also gave his best wishes for a Flawless and Great Tournament.

Entailing the Opening Ceremony on 12th October, 2023, DPS Ranchi played v/s DPS Bilaspur, DPS NTPC Korba played v/s DPS Megacity, Kolkata, DPS Ruby Park-Kolkata played v/s DPS Durg, DPS Ranchi played v/s DPS NTPC Korba and DPS Ruby Park-Kolkata played v/s DPS Numaligarh.

On 13th October 2023, DPS Bilaspur played against DPS Megacity, Kolkata, DPS Durg played against DPS Numaligarh, DPS Ranchi played against DPS Megacity, Kolkata and DPS Bilaspur played against DPS Korba.

In the Semifinals, thereafter, DPS Ranchi played against DPS Ruby Park, Kolkata and DPS Numaligarh played against DPS Bilaspur. In order to determine the Third & Fourth Positions, DPS Ruby Park played v/s DPS Bilaspur.

The Closing Ceremony was graced by Ms. Kalpana Swamy (Assistant Director (Sports) Education Division, Durg) as Chief Guest. The ceremony commenced with the Lighting of the lamp, followed by Dance (Art in Motion) and the Principal’s Welcome Address. The Final Match was played between DPS Numaligarh & DPS Ranchi, followed by Prize Distribution and Memento Presentation.

The Second Runners- up of the tournament were DPS Ruby Park, Kolkata, the First Runners- up were DPS Numaligarh and the Winner team was DPS Ranchi. The player of the tournament was Alisha Singh of DPS Ranchi.

The Chief Guest Ms. Kalpana Swamy in her address gave her best wishes to all the participants & expressed her great elation & appreciation on the conduct of the event. The Ceremony saw its culmination with the DPS Society flag brought down by the Chief Guest and the Meet declared Closed.

The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. Gagan Inder Singh Virdee HOD Physical Education DPS Durg. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Ms. Zohra Husain I/c Activities & the Cultural Items were anchored by Vedant Jain, Head Boy & Arushi Jain, Head Girl. This was followed by the National Anthem.
