DPS Durg Celebrates Annual Day- 2024

DPS Durg celebrated its Annual Day on Wednesday the 10th January, 2024 amidst great splendor, mirth and zest. Shri Om Prakash Choudhary,Finance & Commercial Tax Minister, Government of Chhattisgarh was the Hon’ble Chief Guest gracing the event. Capt Abhimanyu, Former Finance & Revenue Minister, Haryana was the Hon’ble Guest of Honour. Among the other dignitaries present were Special Guests, Mr Gajendra Yadav, MLA Durg and Mr Rikesh Sen, MLA Vaishali Nagar, Dr. Himanshu Dwivedi Managing Editor Haribhoomi & Mr H.S Batra, Member, Managing Committee, DPS Durg, Principal Mr. Yashpal Sharma, Mr R.C.Dwivedi SM, members of the PTA, Press, Parents and students.

The programme commenced with the welcome and introducing of the guests by the Activities Incharge Ms. Zohra Husain, followed by the lighting of the Ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest,Guest of Honour and eminent dignitaries accompanied by the Principal. Next, the Principal, Mr.Yashpal Sharma, extended a formal welcome to the guests and the gathering and presented the School’s Annual Report comprising the achievements, laurels and attainments of the School.

The ’Best House’ for the session 2022-2023 was won by the Shivalik House. The award was received by the House Warden, House Captains and Prefects. The Cultural Programme based on the theme ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam included a WelcomeDance, ‘Ganesh Vandana’, a Dance Drama eulogizing India and celebrating its traditions and heritage,International Fusion folk, ‘Revelling Extravaganza’ with its Indian and International Folk Dances, Rajasthani, Chhattisgarhi, Arabian, Italian, Goan, Spanish, highlighting on the fact that the world is one family, in its energetic and foot tapping moves, an Orchestra ‘A Percussion Ensemble’ comprising students playing various musical instruments synchronizing in rhythm with the mellifluous serenading of the School’s budding music talents ,an English Skit ‘Wonder World’based on Lewis Carroll’s classic ’Alice in Wonderland’ portraying the idea that real peace is manifested in understanding & accepting with tolerance, the differences in humans and creatures created by the Almighty and resolving amicably,the challenges of the world, as one family. The Puppet Show ’Quest for Serenity’ projected the dialogues of the powerful , developed nations and India’s message to them about ’Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ as a solution to unrest, conflicts , aggression and war. The Mime was a short presentation on Cell phones being a bane in human lives. The Kathak dance ’Tarana’ reminded the gathering of the rich ,classic tradition and culture of India. A student Aritro Chaudhary played a song on the mouth organ. The Western Dance’ Power of Youth’ was a powerful dance initiated by girls presenting Shiv Tandav through Bharat Natyam entailed by a scintillating, energetic dance by the boys to endorse the idea that the onus is on the vivacious Youth to generate positivity, peace and the feeling of the World being one family.
The Guest of honour Capt Abhimanyu,SpecialGuests accompanied by the Principal, Mr Yashpal Sharma, also inaugurated the Exhibition put up by the Primary Wing on ’States of India’.

The Special Guest ,Mr Rikesh Sen MLA, Vaishali Nagar, stated that he was mesmerizd to witness the classic programme and exhibition. He further added that DPS Durg is exemplary in development and progress and that the school has also been, philanthropic in reaching out to the parents and the needy especially in Covid times. He lauded the Management and the Principal for the Social services rendered.

The Special Guest Mr. Gajendra Yadav. MLA Durg said that DPS Durg is one of the top schools at the National level. He congratulated the Management, teachers and students for the classic level of the cultural programme presented and opined that the students have been well groomed.

The Guest of Honour Capt Abhimanyu contended that students performed exceedingly well. He was superlative in his appreciation stating that the parents must be indeed elated and proud to see their children groomed so well and congratulated them.

The Hon’ble Chief Guest Shri. O.P. Choudhary that the theme of the cultural programme ’Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ is all about tolerance, unity & harmony. He further added that as against the concept of ‘live and let live’ India has exhibited ‘live and give life’. He urged students to make passion their profession. He congratulated the Principal for the classic performance of students conveying aptly, the ideology of ’Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’

Meritorious students, announced by Ms. Mamta Patel, Incharge exams,were given prizes for excellence in Academics by the Chief Guest.

The Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Himanshu Dwivedi. The student anchors of the cultural items were Vedant Jain, AarushiJain,Rimjhim Mishra,Vinu Jain,Adwit Tiwari and Tanushka Rathore. The programme culminated with the National Anthem.
